Writer’s block gets us all at some point or another. It could be that we are tired, or distracted. Perhaps we just aren’t inspired. You could name just about anything and it could get in the way of writing. Our craft is a sensitive thing. Easily derailed. With “The Magic Shop,” I remember reaching a specific part of the first draft and being totally stuck. I wasn’t sure how to transition the book from where I was, to where I wanted to go. I was irritated for a few days, and then I ran across a video that was so wonderfully captured, so inspired, that I just new I had to use the way it made me feel in my story.

When I saw this video it inspired me with the setting for a group of my characters. Inspiration got me out of my writer’s block. It worked for me, why couldn’t it work for you. Afterall, isn’t that what our book ideas were in the first place – inspiration?
