What if you knew you were going to die?
When Marcus’s grandparents decide it would be good for him and his twin sister, Ellie, to tend the family business, a Magic Shop, the children are thrown into a world that they never knew existed. Not only is the family business a front, but Marcus learns that he has been marked as a dead man from the time he was born. Marcus tries to develop his powers before the Dun-Bahr find him and assimilate the magic he was born with. Will he and his sister survive? Will they find their parents? First they must discover the secret his grandparents have been keeping from them all these years. It all comes down to what’s hidden at the Magic Shop.

After reading amazing feedbacks from readers, I knew this is a great book; however, I realized it first hand when I completed the entire book in two sittings.
This is a amazing story of youth, who loves magic, adventures, twists, and thrills. Marcus is very engaging and lovable character and along with his twin sister Ellie (confession – it is my favorite character even though Marcus is the hero of the story). I just can’t wait for my daughter to grow up 5 more years and read this book which has magic, discovery and subtle innocence.
I strongly recommend this book to everyone at any age. If you are an adult, this book will you enough stories to tell your younger ones. I finished this book in just 5 hours, I hope to see this story on big screen.

Whether you’re looking for a new Fantasy series to start, or for a Middle-Grade page turner, The Magic Shop is a fun option. I get asked frequently what age group the book is for, and I always answer the same way –I’ve had kids as young as seven or so really enjoy it, and adults well past their mid-life crisis like it too. I’ve even had some readers plow through this 512 page whopper in less than 24 hours. (Now, had I written a textbook, I might really be changing the world.) The Magic Shop is about family. And, as in the quote above, family is sometimes messy, and always complicated. Add to that a world where you have the equivalent to magical gunslingers, differentiated only by their beliefs about magic, and their version of “right,” well, you can imagine the kind of fun that ensues. ― JS
